Just finished SOTE and am contemplating getting full crystal and bowfa. I already have a tbow (bond baby) back in the day. But earn my cash through content now thankfully. Want to know if it would be worth getting even with a tbow. I enjoyed melee Solo Bandos but would like to switch it up and try 6:0 method. Bowfa is comparable to tbow in the sense that bofa < tbow. They both have the same attack range, although bowfa hits faster (4t vs 5t), tbow is better against all the important monsters (jads, zuk, mages). If you're learning you want all these monsters to go down as quickly as possible. Thing is you probably should not wait for tbow to drop. Definitely get bowfa, if you're planning to do insanity expert runs. Last rowing at warden p4 will be much smoother and Zebak will be faster. However you can skip bowfa if u can get a twisted bow or shadow. when i did the combat task, i calced acb + dhide was better dps than crystal bow + crystal armor.

I did my bowfa grind without rigour, but I had augury and used the staff mostly. Once I had the mechanics down well I started to use the Halberd more though

Crystal armour doesnt need a defensive value buffs, but it could act as a proselyte armour for ranged. Give it prayer bonuses comparable to Other BIS prayer. On top of that, it could have some small ranged str bonus, making it into a more offensive option compared to other tier 70 ranged armour ( like karils,armadyl, blessed dhide ).

but yes, without armor bowfa still good, though crossbows can be better (ruby bolts) You can full recharge a crystal set in 4-5 hours of thieving and it'll last you months. I used it for my d pick grind at chaos ele. Went with black d hide and it performed acceptably. Not worth using without the crystal armor brother.
