It's done usually between 6 and 8 weeks, lasts about an hour and they should do urine and blood tests then, as well as taking your medical history etc. so in theory you should be waiting until your 12 week scan to have your pregnancy confirmed. Yesterday’s line was really dark and today was much lighter. I used fmu and figured it was just weak from peeing so many times last night. In my experience, ICs are crap at detecting the subtle shifts in pregnancy hormones. Your best bet is to use a FRER or any other pink test to check the darkness (although I've had good luck with Clearblue as well).
