If you run 350 to 400 HP on a stop 10 bolt and it's for the street then your fine. Street tires, stock type stall, and street driving will be fine. It's the shock to the rear ends that hurt them.

If you want something reasonably reliable for a modded car, at 600+hp, you might as well build the engine. Stroker kits help spool big turbos but won't rev as high.

With that said, it isn't really about how much material can be removed but rather, how much needs to be left. Again, this depends on material, design and journal size.
