Feb 25, 2009 · LIM gaskets, most of the 3.8L cars out there have bad original gaskets. Replacing with the same black plastic seems to yield the same results, more bad gaskets. GM changed the design and came out with an aluminum gasket for the LIM's and those seem to be well made and don't deform and fail like the plastic ones do.

You can always take off the dog bones then while in park rock the car back and fourth until the engine rocks forward then hit the ebrake. That will lock it in place until you release the ebrake.
