The problem is that normally, it'll send out the DNS request for the FQDN of a device on the corp network. After some poking around, I found I could ping IPs but name resolution wasn't working. As of this post, it looks like the DNS IPs Verizon's feeding me are down, specifically 66.174.95.44 and 69.78.96.14. Changing the DNS settings for 3G data doesn't seem to be very straightforward, but I did find a way to do it.

It's not a DNS lookup failure per se, but a failure to actually reach the DNS server in the first place as you can see. That causes any lookup to timeout and the browser just fails to connect to the site.
