Redfield made one specifically for the 37 Ithica #551001, which was designed to deal with the recoil. Sadly they are no longer marketed, and used ones are far and few between. I believe Ithica used this mount as a factory option at one time on the Deerslayer. I had some heavy duty 11mm airgun scope rings that fit. It worked out pretty good.

From my understanding the barrel will have to be fitted to the receiver by way of machining a little at a time off of the mating surface of the barrel until it can be turned in to the receiver. What is done if the opposite is needed? A little too much headspace I guess is what I am saying. Barrel turns in too freely.

If the gun's serial number is before 855,000, the receiver must be modified at a cost of $180 before a new bbl. can be used. Add to that the cost of the bbl. and chokes. If made later than 855,000 it's just the cost of the bbl.
