I happen to have a Nitro Special butt stock off the gun . I just weighed it .11.80 oz. That's just the wood . I don't think you will get rid of more than an oz. and you will weaken the wrist . It's not new wood, un-altered ones split especially if there is any oil soaked into the wood from the action .
