That’s what the governor on my tillotson 212 limited itself to with no load. It’ll rev to about 4500 rpm with load. That's a lot different compared to a predator, Tillotsons are built to rev higher. Taking a bypassed predator with no billet parts to 5000rpm will almost certainly be catastrophic. Oh 🤦♂️ I knew that.

If you remove the governor or make other adjustments to increase rpm then you will need to get a Mikuni or a Mikuni clone carburetor to get more power out of the engine. That hardened plastic (but still plastic) governor gear, connected to the camshaft is now spinning wildly, without purpose, beyond speeds it was not designed for inside the engine. Yes you will get valve float with stock springs that will limit rpm but you will still be getting higher rpms on the gear then it was built for. Better safe then sorry. A zip tie around the governor spring is an easy way to see what more rpms will feel like. Ideally, you remove the governor gear.
